Marc Stone presents:

Sunday Blues & Boogie feat. J & The Causeways wsg Mikayla Braun

j&c flyersept16

Nominated New Orleans’ “Best Blues Artist” in the 2018 Best of the Beat Awards, slide guitarist, singer, producer and WWOZ-fm “Soul Serenade” host Marc Stone gathers all of the roots and branches to forge a smoldering, funky style all his own. Whether putting his originals front and center with the Marc Stone Band, exploring the deepest Delta roots with Son House protege John Mooney or celebrating the Creole Funk and Soul legacy with New Orleans’ vocal legend Marilyn Barbarin in the New Soul Finders!, Stone’s distinctive voice and touch set him apart from the pack.

J & The Causeways formed on a hot night at the Maple Leaf Bar in New Orleans, La. Jordan Anderson, a New Orleans Singer/Songwriter and Piano player approached Guitarist Evan Hall and Bassist Gavin Murray with an idea of creating a festival sound around the songs he had written. As well as joining forces with Kevin McMann (Sax) and Harry Morter Jr. (Trumpet), the group finally discovered the missing piece in Ezel Smith Jr. (Drums) and began sculpting festival style sound filled with powerhouse lead vocals, stunning guitar/organ/horn melodies, and a wonderfully energetic rhythm section!

Since settling into New Orleans in 2012, Mikayla has played her original music everywhere from Tipitina's to the streets of the French Quarter to the NO Jazz & Heritage Festival. Her "sensitive yet compelling" vocals matched with her electric stage presence draws audiences in to make any venue feel intimate, while being able to "rip the roof off the joint with nothing but a voice and ukulele." In addition to writing her own lyrically driven music and performing with her quartet around the city Mikayla is also the lead singer of New Orleans based band The Crooked Vines. She released her latest EP Synapse in October 2017 which is available on all major platforms.
