The Soul Rebels featuring Partners N Crime with DJ Wop and Raj Smoove

soul rebels

The Soul Rebels first started with an idea - to expand upon the pop music they loved on the radio and the New Orleans brass tradition they grew up on. They took that tradition and blended funk and soul with elements of hip hop, jazz and rock. The band has settled on an eight-piece lineup and have built a career around an eclectic live show that harnesses the power of horns and drums in the party like atmosphere of a dance club.

Partners N Crime are considered legendary to locals and to any out of towners whose had the opportunity to hear their music or catch a live show over the course of the past 20+ years. The music that they play is in a style that is all their own, and the people of New Orleans love it. Mr. Meana believes that his fans are fanatics, and love the music. The music is different from regular New Orleans bounce music in that they are able to rap to it. It is their own unique style that there is none other of. The group has gone on tour all of the United States, including the Virgin Islands.

Known as the big brother that taught Mannie Fresh everything he knows about DJing, DJ Wop is without a doubt a hero of New Orleans bounce, hip-hop and soul. Ladies and gentlemen, a legend is in the building.

Spinning from the age of 13, DJ Raj Smoove has worked with artists such as Mannie Fresh and Lil Wayne. Holding down some of the city's most cherished hip-hop, R&B, feel-good dance nights at venues like House of Blues and more, Raj is also the studio engineer or producer behind countless rising and independent New Orleans hip-hop, soul and R&B artist tracks you might already know.
