The 2019 inaugural critic in residence is Giovanni Russonello, who covers jazz and improvised music for The New York Times.

Every day from April 26th - May 5th, Giovanni will conduct live interviews, panels and presentations at Three Keys from 11am-12pm.

NEW GALLERY EXHIBIT FEATURES PHOTOS FROM ORIGINAL JAZZ FESTS:
As part of the Six of Saturn’s celebration and to pay tribute to 50 years of Jazz Fest, Ace Hotel debuts a new photo gallery exhibit on April 25th. The exhibit is curated by official Jazz Fest photographer Girard Mouton II and features original photos from the first and second Jazz Fests. The photos were taken by previous Jazz Fest photographers Eric Waters and Norman Smith and highlight the performances of icons like Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Nina Simone, among others. Eric Waters and Norman Smith (who is also a historian) will be in attendance discussing the history and local roots of Jazz Fest, before it moved to Fair Grounds and became the large event it is today.
